It seems I am at a “plateau.” This means my numbers are staying around 600 to 700. This puts me into the chronic disease classification. I want to be dancing with N.E.D. (No Existing Disease), but that might not be in the cards.
The doctor has ordered imaging to make sure that there isn’t anything wonky going on – and to determine if surgery might be an option. This would be major recovery time surgery, too.
The weather around here is being psychotic so I have been exhausted. At least that is what I am claiming! I’ve been sleeping a lot of the time. We have had major storms going through and my sinuses do not like them. Lots of headaches and just being tired on top of the chemo tired.
During my appointment I found out my doctor’s wife is very ill and needs prayers. For those who do pray, please keep them both in your prayers. He is a good man with a calling that is hard enough without his wife and family being brought down by cancer as well.
Wish there was NED. and I will continue to pray that your medical team will find the treatment that will put you into the remission status . Will say more prayers for your dr, his wife and family. Love you.
I’ll keep your doc’s wife in my thoughts, but just so you know you’ve never left mine.
Keeping all of you in my prayers!
And, I hope the rest you’re getting brings you renewed strength…
I’m sorry your cancer is not being cooperative. Are you trying to control it at all with diet or alternative therapies? I was just wondering. A friend of mine with sinus/brain stem cancer has done very well with a certain diet. Are you in any pain? I will pray for your doctor’s wife. How very sad.
Prayers for them, & for you too. (((hugs)))
Sorry to hear that you might be reclassified.
I don’t know what to hope for on the imaging – nothing at all or something to remove. Much luck either way…
Praying for you. I am a cancer survivor and know how scary those tests can be. Lifting you up right now!
Plateau is better than no plateau, but I wanted to hear NED, too. Very much so,
g
I don’t know but I thought I’d just give some food-for-thought. I rmemeber reading about the actor Dirk Benedict using a macrobiotic diet to eliminate some tumor (don’t know the details and whether it’s similar to your mom’s in any way). I also rmemeber watching or reading something where mental imagery was being used with children to stall the growth of cancer. I’d use google.com to search for this and other stuff. Maybe look into other stuff that can’t hurt: e.g. holistic techniques, yoga, acupuncture, maybe even search for neurofeedback techniques? As long as something works (and doesn’t conflict with or divert you from researching things that may really be beneficial, why not?). Maybe check out holisticonline.com? And maybe look for any drugs that are being developed? For example, I’m doing a clinically-proven breathing technique ( resonant breathing’) for depression and panic disorder (researcher at robert wood johnson hospital in NJ has done the studies on it); maybe look for breathing techniques in yoga and other areas for cancer? Maybe use this in combination with other things mental imagery, diet changes, exercise, the other stuff you mentioned, etc.?Just thoughts that pop out I’d do a bunch of research using google. Email/call people if needed. Go onto online forums (e.g. google.groups, yahoo.groups) and get info. For example, I’m going to go to a hypnotherapist for the panic disorder stuff; I did a bunch of research by sending emails and calling a number of hypnotherapists to make sure I was getting someone who was good and not some snake-oil salesman. I’m also looking into acupuncture as well (for help w/ allergies and panic) and I did the same thing sent emails and phoned people with a bunch of questions (# of treatments, have they been successful treating what I have, etc.). I was able to get a good idea of who seemed good. And I’m using these things in combination with other stuff (therapy, diet, exercise and even medication). Sorry if this just sounds overwhelming or all over the place’ disregard if it does
